It’s Raining Beer

The Collington Classic
Block Party
It started with a beer
and inspiration went wild
Funny how that happens
My buddy had been doing a block party on S. Collington Ave. Baltimore for years, long before we were friends. It was pretty huge, like a few hundred people. He asked me if I would be interested in making a poster for it. No doubt! So I just started playing around with a 3D can model. I was just going to map it with Natty Boh label art (‘Baltimore’s’ beer) and with not too much difficulty, got the can looking pretty good. So then I thought, “Well, maybe I’ll just start playing around with what it looks like and give him an animated poster.” One thing led to another and I was deep down the rabbit hole. I recalled a technique I saw on youtube to do a hyper zoom. So now I had the can falling to earth. And then I started toying with how it got there, flying through the clouds. After all this, my colleague said we have to film the rest of the piece. So we thought of a few shots and went out to shoot that week. It’s ludicrous, but it’s great!
